Indianapolis 500 - Helio Castroneves won his fourth Indy in a clean race that saw only two single-car yellow flags.  [JAM 5/30/2021]

Indianapolis 500 - Takuma Sato outlasted Scott Dixon as the race ended under the yellow flag.  The race was held in August for the first time because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  [JAM 8/23/2020]

Indianapolis 500 - Simon Pagenaud won his first Indy 500 in a race marred with only one multi-car accident.  Alexander Rossi was a close second.  [JAM 5/26/2019]

Indianapolis 500 - Will Power won his first Indy 500 after two slower cars pulled into the pits on the 196th lap.  Danica Patrick hit the wall on the 68th lap to end her racing career.  The temperature in Indiana was the highest ever for the event - 93 degrees, Fahrenheit.  [JAM 5/27/2018]

Daytona 500 - Austin Dillon won the final 2-lap, yellow-flag restart.  This race was riddled with driving mistakes that ended the racing for so many of the drivers.  In her last NASCAR start, Danica Patrick ran a clean race for 102 laps until another driver spun out in front of her to drag her into a multi-car collision.  [JAM 2/19/2018]

2017 - Takuma Sato (Indianapolis 500)

Indianapolis 500 - Rookie Alexander Rossi coasted to the line as his vehicle ran out of fuel in a perfect example of fuel-economy racing. [JAM 5/29/2016]

2015 - Juan Pablo Montoya (Indianapolis 500)

Indianapolis 500 - Ryan Hunter-Reay barely held off Helio Castoneves in the last lap to win his first Indy 500.  The race was the safest ever as the drivers raced into the 150th lap without a yellow flag delay for auto damage.  Several minor accidents occurred in the last 50 laps to mar the race including one on lap 191 to cause the red flag to be waved, setting up the race to the finish with 20 cars on the same lap.  [JAM 5/25/2014]

Indianapolis 500 - Tony Kanaan won his first 500 under the yellow flag after Dario Franchitti hit the wall on lap 197.  Kanaan had just taken the lead after a restart on the previous lap.  Rookie Carlos Munoz was second.  The 2013 race set records for lead changes and overall speed.  This may also have been the safest race in its history.  There were no car-to-car collisions in 200 laps.  A few drivers lost control and hit the wall but yellow-flag delays were kept to a minimum.  Twenty-five cars were running at the end with 21 of them one the lead lap.  [JAM 5/26/2013]

Daytona 500 - Jimmie Johnson won the race but Danica Patrick made history by winning the pole position.  Patrick ran with the leaders all day and was third at the beginning of the white-flag lap but was boxed at the end and dropped to eighth place. [JAM 2/24/2013]

Indianapolis 500 - Dario Franchitti won his third Indianapolis 500 race under a yellow flag as Japanese driver Takumo Sato spun while trying to pass Franchitti on the final lap.  Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan finshed right behind Franchitti in second and third, respectively as 16 drivers finished on the last lap. [JAM 5/27/2012]

Indianapolis 500 - Dan Wheldon (1978-October 16, 2011) won his second Indy 500 when rookie J.R. Hildebrand hit the wall on the last turn of the last lap.  Hildebrand finished second as his car coasted across the line behind Wheldon.  Danica Patrick took the lead on lap 180 but relinquished the lead on lap 190.  Patrick finished tenth due to a late pit stop.  Defending champion Franchitti and his teammate Dixon shared the lead for most of the race but both faded at the end due to fuel issues. [JAM 5/29/2011]

Indianapolis 500 - Dario Franchitti (Mr. Ashley Judd) from Scotland won his second Indianapolis 500 race under the yellow flag as Mike Conway and Ryan Hunter-Reay were involved in a 199th lap crash.  Dan Weldon was second for the second straight year.  Danica Patrick came from a 23rd place start to finish sixth.  Tony Kanaan moved from 33rd to second place but had to pit on lap 196 and finished in 11th place. [JAM 5/30/2010]

Indianapolis 500 - Helio Castroneves from Brazil won his third Indianapolis 500 race.  Danica Patrick was third. [JAM 5/24/2009]
