State of Play (2009)

My friend, Ron said that this was a good movie.  Russell Crowe is a rude newspaper journalist and Ben Affleck is a slimy politico.  Both are trying to expose a giant corporate corruption scheme in their own ways.  The editing is excellent and the newsroom footage is authentic.  This movie does a good job of exploring the current plight of print journalism versus the internet blog.  What is the real mission of the city news organization: truth or profits?  This may be one of the last movies to show a newsroom (Washington Post) in the present and not as a historical flashback.  No animals were injured in the making of this movie.  [JAM 4/18/2009]
