The Paper (Ron Howard) - 1994

This is an excellent movie that received mixed reviews and little attention when it was released in 1994.  Michael Keaton is a lead reporter for one of those small New York newspapers.  He struggles to balance the demands of the job and his home life with pregnant, ex-reporter Marisa Tomei.  Keaton clashes with Glenn Close over the eternal conflict between news content and profit/loss status.  Director Howard does a great job of showing what a news team can do when a hot story is in play.  Sadly, the family atmosphere depicted in this newsroom has largely disappeared in this electronic age of short attention spans and cheap thrills.
