Frankenweenie (Tim Burton) -2012
This is the story of the love between a boy and his dog. Burton's puppeteers manipulated 200 models through some great sets over a two-year period to create this classic stop-action, black-and-white homage to the horror movies of the 1930s. Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Winona Ryder, Martin Landau and others voiced the characters. Landau's science professor inspires a group of odd students to develop some A+ science projects to the dismay of the local town-folks. My favorite scene occurrs in the pet cemetery where one headstone reads: "Goodbye Kitty." This one may be too scary and sad for small children. [JAM 10/12/2012]
