Mad #482 (John Ficarra) - 53 Worst Things About Advertising Issue - October 2007

Thirty-three Mad artists took turns illustrating the worsts apparently identified during huge Mad staff brain-storming sessions of which none are willing to claim writing credit.  Certainly, the advertising arm of commerce is the bane of our existence.  This is one "worst things" subject that must have been difficult to stop at fifty.  The best of the drawings are Tim Hamilton's indignant Amish man, Sergio Aragones' bar party, Mark Hempel's "Loganberry Roots!" and Peter Kuper's "Geico ads".  "But Wait, There's More!!!"  The six percent bonus at the end of the eight-page anchor article saw ink without any more artists available to punch them.  We all hate those ads that clutter every media (including Mad magazine these days).  The best of the seven full-page paid advertisements in Mad #482 is "Kell and Tora" by Marvel artist Brian Denham on the back cover for Comic Collector Live.  [JAM 11/15/2014]
