Mad #360 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - IKRAPPA Issue - August 1997

Scott Maiko wrote the six-page parody of an IKEA catalog.  The "IKRAPPA Catalogue" is printed upside down with a full-color cover as the back cover of Mad magazine.  Because of the catalog parody, an Al Jaffee "Fold-In" did not appear in the issue.  The Maiko catalog promises "... to give any tastefully-decorated home the look of a rundown college dorm."  In addition to Maiko's fine work, Mad #360 also contains another gem ("Rosie O'Donnell Grills Some Non-Showbiz Guests") from Desmond Devlin who, in my opinion, has been Mad's greatest writer.  Rosie compares Nelson Mandela to Barbra Streisand; tells John Gotti that his mob hits remind her of the last episode of M*A*S*H; tries to get Timothy McVeigh's opinion of Madonna's chances for an Oscar; urges Charles Manson to sing an Almond Joy commercial with her; asks Sadaam Hussein to make camel noises; and babbles about digital clocks with The Unabomber.  You can have all of the Monroe angst you want.  I look forward to next outpouring from the brain of Mr. Devlin.  [JAM 5/29/2013]

Drawings by father and son, Basil & Monte Wolverton appear in the same issue of Mad.
