Mad #323 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - Jurass-Has-Had-It Park Issue - December 1993

Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park was the blockbuster movie of 1993.  Based on a novel by Michael Crichton (1942-2008) who also wrote the screenplay, the movie grossed $914 million and hatched three sequels.  Mad sent artists Richard Williams (cover), Mort Drucker (parody), Sergio Aragones (marginals and "A Mad Look at Jurassic Park") and Duck Edwing ("The Jocular Jurassic Jolt") after this one.  The six-page parody ("Jurass-Has-Had-It Park") is one of Dick DeBartolo's best efforts.  Of all the dinosaurs in the issue, I think Drucker's T-Rex with bib and fork is the best description of this improbable theme park concept.  [JAM 4/30/2012]

Baby dinosaurs is hatched with a pacifier in its mouth (page 6).

Look for guest appearances by Big Bird, Bart Simpson (twice), Dennis the Menace, Charlie Brown (twice), Tintin, Lucy van Pelt, Henry, Sluggo and (of course) Barney in this issue.
