Mad #27 (Harvey Kurtzman) - Jack Davis Issue - April 1956

Jack Davis drew the cover for Mad No. 27, which was the last "Humor in a Jugular Vein" issue.  In addition to the cover, Davis illustrated the Nature and Sports departments.  He was the most prolific artist of the Kurtzman era.  In the first Mad magazine, 26 of 64 pages were illustrated by Davis.  When he departed Mad (with Kurtzman and Elder), he left behind 46 pages of drawings that were used by the new editor (Feldstein) to fill the pages of Mad Nos. 29, 30 and 31. [PSA2]

Cyclops has a "Welcome Mat" in front of his cave.  ("Ulysses" - page 43)
