1971

On September 18, 1971, I bowled a 300 game at the Vandenberg Air Force Base bowling alley in the first game of the doubles portion of a military, invitational tournament.  The first nine strikes were perfect pocket hits.  The tenth strike was a crossover, solid "Brooklyn" hit and strikes 11 and 12 were perfect.  I was bowling for the Naval Air Station Lemoore team.  The other team members were Earl Matthews, Tom Cass and Manny Waje.

I also bowled in the All Navy tournament in 1971 in Norfolk, Virginia after finishing 6th in the district tournament (San Francisco) and 4th in the regional tournament (Whidbey Island, WA).  My name was removed from the base watch list as I traveled and bowled, and I never stood watch again as I continued to travel with the base team in 1972 and 1973.  [JAM 6/12/2020]
